Algae

Description

Satin opaque glaze, a deep black with green variations appearing where the glaze is thicker or has run. A silky, organic surface, ideal for highlighting relief and texture.

• Opacity : opaque — Finish : satin — Texture : smooth

Usage

• Perfect for rustic deciduous trees such as oak, hornbeam and elm, where the black-green tone works well with textured bark.
• Excellent on trees with dark or cracked bark, as the green build-ups reinforce the natural, damp, almost mossy feel.
• Suitable for pots with relief, grooves, hollows or patterns, where the glaze forms more intense green areas.
• Best avoided for very delicate trees or very colourful or pastel foliage: the black-green base creates a strong, dark visual effect.
• Ideal for compositions seeking a deep, organic and slightly mysterious look, reminiscent of wet stones or algae-covered rock.

Creation notes

Designed to make use of melting variations during firing, Algae develops green zones of varying intensity where the glaze accumulates. Its satin, dark surface evokes wet rock or shaded moss.
